I can’t help but share this fascinating map found on Quartz. I never knew that people refer to “tea” if it was first traded to them by sea and “cha” if they acquired the product via land routes first. Now I know why I always called it “чай” (Pronounced “chay” in Russian), as it was traded to Russia via the Silk Road. All the tea roads lead to China.
